3 Ways to Fit a Fisher College MBA Into Your Crazy Life

Posted by Alison M. on Aug 31, 2016 9:00:00 AM

Life was so much more manageable back when you were a student, when all you had to worry about was studying. Now you’ve got a lot more to juggle: a demanding job, a home to maintain, possibly a family or plans to start one.

You know earning an MBA will help supercharge your career trajectory, vaulting you into a higher position at your company, opening up new job opportunities, or giving your the tools, connections, and confidence to start a business of your own. But with everything else going on in your life, how can you possibly fit in the classes?

Consider the MBA for Working Professionals option at Fisher College of Business at Ohio State University. It’s ranked ninth in the nation for part-time business schools and the top in Ohio, according to U.S. News & World Report.

For busy professionals like you, our MBA program allows you to schedule your classes evenings, weekends, or both — whatever works best for you.

Here is a closer look at each option.

Earn Your MBA In the Evening

This is the “classic” version of the MBA for Working Professionals program at Fisher. It’s one of the country’s top 10, but students often remark on how intimate it feels. Class sizes are kept small on purpose to tailor the experience to each individual student. The free and open exchange of ideas, questions, and experiences is encouraged.

“Being at Fisher feels a lot like being with family,” new students and visitors frequently say.

Other highlights of the MBA for Working Professionals include:

> A cutting-edge curriculum, designed to be immediately applicable at your day job. You’ll learn to think critically and conceptually, and you won’t have wait until you graduate with your MBA to start distinguishing yourself at work.

> A learning-by-doing approach. You’ll engage with business leaders from the many Fortune 1000 firms in the Columbus area, learning from the best and forging connections that will help you further your career goals.

> The interdisciplinary power of Ohio State. Fisher College may feel like family, but it’s part of one of the largest universities in the country. Depending on where you want to take your career, you can customize your MBA with electives from other Ohio State graduate programs.

> The support and mentorship of experts. The MBA faculty at Fisher are experienced businesspeople and highly-regarded academics. They are often sought out as business consultants and contributors to today’s top journals. As a student, you’ll have individualized attention from your professors, and you’ll work with an academic advisor and career consultant to create and execute a plan for achieving your personal and professional goals.

Earn Your MBA on the Weekend

We all know the 9-to-5 is hardly sacred anymore. Throw in commitments at home and sometimes it’s just as hard to get away in the evenings as it is during the day. That’s why we added the weekend MBA program at Fisher College.

The weekend program has the same features as the evening program (listed above) but allows students to attend classes on Saturdays (Sundays, if there’s a football game). Making it even more convenient, we’ll help you get to campus. Whether you're coming in from Cleveland, Cincinnati, or Dayton, we provide free transportation to class, via chartered, Wi-Fi-enabled buses.

Take the Hybrid Approach

At Fisher, you’re not locked into either of our part-time scheduling options. You can customize your own schedule to take classes some evenings and some weekends. We allow you this flexibility because we believe a busy life shouldn’t get in the way of achieving your full professional potential.
